$280 $200 is on the medium-high end for price, but this is also the fastest, smallest and easiest to use, so you pay a little extra for the size, fast warm-up time, and Bluetooth features.

• Ease of use: 10

Fast warm-up, especially compared to the original Pax or Crafty. The single button interface makes it easy to use, but a little cryptic to change settings, which you don’t need to do often.

• Design: 9

The design is thin and light compared to most portables, a minor upgrade over the Pax 2 in terms of design and aesthetics. The rubber mouth piece seems nearly identical to the Pax 2, but for some reason I like this one better mouth fit. The battery charger still remains a weak spot, which I feel could be improved in future designs.

• Durability: 9

Pax 3 has suffered a few drops and it’s doing just fine. I keep it in my pocket with keys and other things as well, so it takes a fair beating, but works just fine.

• Setup: 10

One button turn-on operation is nice and easy to just turn on and go. Minimal junk included in the package which I really appreciate. Just the basics you need.

• Loading: 9

Like all previous Pax designs, the magnetic back is a breeze to operate but I usually have to spend a few seconds fiddling with some ground cannabis around the door, and pack down and shake some of the lose herb into the oven chamber. Not as nice of a loading experience as the Crafty or Mighty with their special device!

• Hits: 7

It’s not a monster for hits like the Mighty, but it’s strong for such its size. Pack it tight and you get larger hits of vapor.

• Clean-up: 9

Tap the bowl to empty, sometimes it requires a paperclip or something if you tend to pack it tight, which is somewhat annoying. The bowl is deeper than Pax 2 even, so sometimes stuff gets stuck in the rounded corners, but comes out easily with a small screw driver or small key.

• Efficiency: 9

I find Pax 3 to be basically as efficient as Pax 2, perhaps more so because of a slightly improved battery and heating element. The small design doesn’t seem to allow much waste due to the vapor path design and simplified mouth piece.

• Maintenance: 10

Wow that Pax 1 mouthpiece was a pain to clean! Pax 2 was a huge improvement, and to my eye, Pax 3 shares the same mouth piece. Just pop it off and wipe it down with a little ISO alcohol — done. After 10-20 uses you may want a pipe cleaner for the vapor path, that’s it.
